Team Triples - 2024 Format and rules notes: -

• 18 teams of triples playing 17 games each using 3 bowls - This is a full round robin league, and each team will play every other team. 
   
• Matches may be re-scheduled with the agreement of both teams for the new day/date. 
   
• If a team only has 2 players, the match can continue with the 2 players using 4 bowls each and the triple using 3, the triple always bowls the first wood. Each team can only use this option once in the competition. The handicaps are adjusted by the lowest player of the triple not being used. If the team cannot field 2 players, the match is forfeited, and the maximum points are handed to their opponents. 
   
• Play will be as per standard triples and will last 16* ends. Teams can play their power play “JOKER” at the start of any end by declaring this to the opposition – any shots they score on that end will be doubled. *unless altered by organisers.
   
• 3 points for a win and the shot difference will be taken into account in the event of a draw, which will score 1 point.
   
• The team handicap system is designed to be flexible enough to cope with players of different ability and experience in the same squad and give an accurate team handicap when playing members change. All players entering have a handicap allocated by the competition quorums, This, is from 1 to 4 depending on ability and experience. 
   
• Experienced high performing players would be 4’s, and new or less experienced players would be a 1. Other abilities 2 or 3 will be allocated at the start of the competition by the Competition quorums.  On the evening of the match the 3 players of each triple add their scores together and deduct the total for the other triple – e.g. 3 top players vs 3 beginners – 3 x 4 = 12 and 3 x 1 = 3, therefore the weaker side has a 9 shot start to be added to the first end. Handicaps are to be recorded on the scorecard with the players’ names. 
   
• Any substitute player will not be permitted to skip.  Dress code is smart casual. The cards will be collected each week after the games & league tables produced & circulated. 
   
•  On all issues concerning the rules for this competition or their application, the decision of the Wednesday Triples administrator on the night is final.
   
• At the end of the Wednesday triples season a social event will be organised. Monies raised through the sales of post-match food will be used to support the end of season event, to be decided by the organisers. The winners team name of the league will be added to the shield kindly donated, and their name added to the honours board in the club house.
